Beit Shemesh man arrested for sexual assault

A Jewish man in his 40's was arrested in the primarily orthodox Jerusalem neighborhood of Beit Shemesh Monday, following an extensive police investigation into his alleged sexual assaults against several of the community’s teens.

According to police, the suspect, whose name is being withheld by a gag order, routinely invited children between the ages of 15 and 16 to his home, where he would play pornographic films and then attempt to sexually accost them.

While police are releasing few details of the case due to its sensitivity, an official said Tuesday that the investigation was launched after several complaints were filed to officers. The suspect was arraigned at Jerusalem Magistrate Court Tuesday, where a judge ordered him remanded for an additional six days as the investigation continues.
